The miners went to work in a new face. One of the workers noticed that every day a rat came to watch them, obviously, the rodent lived somewhere nearby. Realizing that the chances of a rodent finding food so deep underground are low, the man began to feed it with the remnants of his dinner. For several weeks the rat accepted treats, but one day it came not to eat, but to call the miners to follow it.
Many of the men in Paul Johnson’s family worked in the mine. In this area, Paul’s father and grandfather mined coal, so the question of a career was a foregone conclusion from childhood.

Paul liked the work of the miner. In the tunnels, sometimes he met living creatures, which he willingly fed. In the tunnels, where mining had recently begun, the rat appeared every day and Paul immediately shared with her the remnants of his lunch, and then he began to specially take pieces of bread with him for his new friend.
One day, the usual work routine was disrupted. The rat didn’t arrive on time, and Paul decided that she had found a better place to live than the mine. When the rodent nevertheless appeared, he behaved very strangely.

“I did not immediately see, but felt the rat. She sat on my shoulder, but her behavior was nervous, very different from how she usually behaved, ”says Paul.
When the man lowered the rat to the ground, it seemed to be calling him to follow her to the lift. The animal ran towards the lift, stopping and turning around to see if Paul was following her.

Not only Paul, but also his colleagues went to check where the rat was calling. There was nothing strange at the lift, but the men stopped nearby to discuss what had happened. Suddenly, the indicator worked, warning that there was a collapse in the face. The rat seemed to know about the impending disaster and called people behind him to take him away from the scene of the tragedy.

The slaughter was quickly restored, security measures were revised and strengthened. According to Paul, after the day the rat saved his and his comrades’ lives, it was never seen again in the mine.
