How to make Apple Crumble, the most succulent and tasty recipe (100% recommended)

Apple Crumble, a classic of British gastronomy, is the dessert that never fails. Imagine a smooth, sweet blend of apples with a crunchy, golden topping that, when combined, creates an unmatched flavor experience.

Originating from the time of World War II, this dessert has endured over time and has conquered palates around the world. Its contrasting texture and authentic flavor make it ideal to serve on cold days, preferably accompanied by a scoop of cream or vanilla ice cream, which adds creaminess to the whole.

Preparing this dessert is an experience in itself and, although there are several variations, we bring you a traditional and easy-to-make version:

Ingredients

Mass:

  • 125 gr. Of flour
  • 15 gr. of sugar
  • 75 gr. of butter
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • Pinch of powdered sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 egg
  • Ice water to taste

Stuffed:

  • 1 kg. of green apples
  • 20 gr. of sugar
  • 20 gr. of butter
  • 10 gr. chopped almonds or walnuts

Stroisel:

  • 50 gr. of sugar
  • 50 gr. of butter
  • 75 gr. Of flour

Preparation

  1. Start with the dough: In a bowl, combine the flour with the butter, rubbing with your hands until you obtain a sandy texture. Add sugar, baking powder and salt. Then, add the egg and, if necessary, a touch of ice water. Mix until you obtain a homogeneous dough and let it rest.
  2. While the dough rests, prepare the filling: Peel and cut the apples into pieces. In a saucepan, cook them with the sugar and butter until the apples become transparent. Once cool, add the chopped almonds or walnuts.
  3. Now, make the stroisel: In a different bowl, combine the butter, sugar and flour, working the mixture with your hands until small lumps form. Then, refrigerate this mixture while you continue with the next steps.
  4. To assemble the cake: Stretch the dough and place it in an oven-safe mold. Pre-bake over moderate heat for about 10 minutes. Once it has blanched slightly, remove from the oven and let cool.
  5. Once cool, add the apple filling to the pre-baked dough.
  6. Cover the filling with the stroisel that you previously refrigerated.
  7. Then, put everything in the oven preheated to 190º C and cook until the crumble on the surface is golden and crispy.
  8. At the end of cooking, remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

If you prefer, serve the Apple Crumble still warm, accompanied by a scoop of American cream or vanilla ice cream. Enjoy this delicious culinary tradition!
