Swedish-Dutch photographer Geert Wegg dedicated his life and work to wildlife photography. For which he was awarded quite a number of international awards, the editors of Lemurov.net emphasize. One of his latest great passions is squirrels! Red forest squirrels, which are so used to photo sessions that they allow you to create whole staged scenes! Let’s see.

The photographer recalls that it all started not with squirrels, but with a fox. He then, on the advice of his colleagues, moved to a house on the edge of the forest and soon met its residents. If you behave carefully and choose the dawn hours, when people are still sleeping and do not make noise, you can notice many animals near human dwellings. It remains only to adjust the equipment and be patient.

Squirrels appeared at a very good moment, when Girt had already accumulated experience in macro photography of animals, and his veranda was lined with camera equipment and accessories. Take and take pictures, which is what he did, but he got so excited that he hardly realized that several years had already passed. The photographer submitted his best works to contests and unexpectedly realized that his proteins are wonderful!

With the right approach, the squirrel can be removed for at least a whole year. One problem is that they get really manual, and that leaves an impression on the photos. It is better if the animals remain natural, so the photographer tries to work with the young generation of squirrels that have not yet met humans. Partly because of this, I had to work so hard, waiting for new broods.

Today, Geert Wegg, a recognized guru of squirrel photography, even holds regular workshops to teach colleagues the art of photographing these beautiful animals. There is no turning back from interested parties, everyone likes the photographer’s work. And you?
